Shipping and Marine Insurance are international markets, which are ever growing closer together. Despite all modern communication facilities we consider personal contact with our colleagues a significant foundation stone in the service we provide to our clients.
A close network of specialised lawyers around the world is taken for granted and in our experience foreign correspondent lawyers represent our German clients’ interests best when being acquainted with the German system.
For these reasons, we organise the Dabelstein & Passehl Shipping and Marine Insurance Scholarship on a yearly basis inviting young foreign lawyers to join a two-week seminar.
Together with clients, who like us have devoted themselves to an exchange of experiences and further education of young people, we offer, in both theory and practice, an introduction and overview of the essentials of German Shipping: bills of lading and contracts of carriage, general average and salvage, freight forwarding and storage, ship building and repair as well as the whole range of related insurance. For those attending the seminar is free of charge.
The programme is very popular. Participants hail from around the world. Past scholars, for example, were from South Africa, Russia, Australia, Argentina, Egypt, England, Italy, USA, the Netherlands, Denmark, Poland, India, Norway and Turkey. We maintain cordial contacts even after many years and the scholars themselves are networking amongst each other.
The programme is hosted each autumn. Applications are welcome any time.
